This specialty whole-house cartridge uses bone-char media to help adsorb fluoride and selected dissolved metals that standard sediment and carbon filters may not effectively address. It is intended as one stage in a properly designed multi-stage filtration system.
Bone char contains calcium-phosphate minerals, including hydroxyapatite, together with a carbon fraction. These mineral surfaces can adsorb fluoride and may also bind selected dissolved metals under suitable water conditions.
Helps reduce dissolved fluoride through adsorption and ion-exchange interactions with the mineral portion of the bone-char media.
May help reduce selected dissolved metals, but actual performance depends strongly on the metal species, concentration, pH, competing ions, flow rate and contact time.
Helps Reduce Fluoride
Bone-char media is widely studied for adsorption of dissolved fluoride from water.
Selected Metal Adsorption
May help reduce certain dissolved metals under suitable water chemistry and contact conditions.
Mineral-Based Media
Uses hydroxyapatite-rich bone char rather than conventional activated carbon alone.
Big Blue Capacity
The 10″ × 4.5″ format provides more media and contact capacity than a slim cartridge.
Multi-Stage Compatible
Designed for use after sediment and, where appropriate, carbon prefiltration.
Drop-In Replacement
Fits compatible industry-standard 10″ × 4.5″ Big Blue housings.
Bone-char performance is highly water-specific. Laboratory or field testing of the installed system is recommended when reduction of a health-related contaminant is the treatment goal.
No specific percentage, gallon capacity or final concentration is claimed because the current product page does not provide cartridge-level performance testing.
Use appropriate sediment, carbon, softening, iron-treatment, disinfection or reverse-osmosis equipment when those goals are required.

Sediment Prefiltration
Install first to capture dirt, sand, silt and visible rust particles that could foul the bone-char media.
Carbon Pretreatment
Carbon treatment may be installed upstream when chlorine, chloramine, taste or odor are also concerns.
BC-10BB Bone Char
Use as the specialty adsorption stage for fluoride and selected dissolved-metal concerns.
Post-Treatment Testing
Verify treated-water fluoride or metal levels rather than relying only on elapsed service time.
