Big Blue housing maintenance tool
Reinforced black wrench for 10″ and 20″ Big Blue filter housings
This reusable housing wrench fits compatible 10″ × 4.5″ and 20″ × 4.5″ Big Blue sumps. It provides additional grip and leverage when loosening a housing during cartridge replacement and may be used for limited final tightening after the sump has been threaded on by hand.

What it does
Provides a secure grip during Big Blue housing service
Big Blue sumps can become difficult to loosen because of water pressure, O-ring compression, mineral deposits, or previous overtightening. The wrench slides around the housing body and provides steady leverage after the water is shut off and all pressure is relieved.
Secondary use
Light Final Tightening
After threading the sump onto the head by hand, use only limited additional wrench pressure if needed. The O-ring—not heavy torque—creates the seal.

Correct use
- ✓Close the inlet and outlet shutoff valves before opening the housing
- ✓Press the housing pressure-release button or otherwise relieve all trapped pressure
- ✓Place the wrench fully around the compatible sump
- ✓Support the housing head and bracket while turning counterclockwise
- ✓Use steady pressure rather than sudden impact or excessive force
- ✓After service, hand-tighten the sump and use only limited final wrench pressure if needed
