Heavy-duty Big Blue housing

10″ × 4.5″ whole-house filter housing with 1″ NPT brass-reinforced ports

This heavy-duty polypropylene housing accepts standard 10″ × 4.5″ Big Blue cartridges for high-flow residential and light-commercial filtration. Brass thread inserts strengthen the inlet and outlet connections, while the built-in pressure-release button helps make cartridge changes safer and easier.

High-capacity housing for standard Big Blue replacement cartridges

The oversized 10″ × 4.5″ format holds substantially more filter media than a standard slim 10″ × 2.5″ cartridge. This supports longer service intervals and higher household flow in suitable sediment, carbon and specialty-media applications.

Installation and maintenance

✓Install on a suitable Big Blue bracket secured to structural backing
✓Use PTFE thread seal tape or approved sealant on external male NPT fittings
✓Do not over-torque fittings into the brass thread inserts
✓Close the shutoff valves and press the pressure-release button before opening the sump
✓Lubricate the housing O-ring lightly with food-grade silicone grease
✓Pressurize slowly after service and inspect every connection for leaks

Not for slim cartridges
This housing does not properly support standard 10″ × 2.5″ slim cartridges.

Not for 20″ cartridges
A 20″ × 4.5″ Big Blue cartridge is too long for this housing.

Confirm the 1″ port size
This housing is not a direct replacement for systems using 3/4″ or 1½″ ports.

Protect from freezing
Freezing water can crack the sump and cause sudden leakage after thawing.

Avoid direct sunlight
UV exposure can accelerate plastic aging and weaken the housing over time.

Replace aging housings proactively
Replace sooner if you see cracking, stress marks, damaged threads, deformation or persistent weeping.

This product includes one housing only. Cartridge, bracket, wrench, mounting hardware, valves, nipples and thread seal tape are not included. Verify cartridge size, port size, bracket compatibility, operating conditions and the pressure rating of the complete system before installation.
