Description

Standard carbon-block filtration

10-micron CTO carbon block for chlorine-related taste and odor polishing

This standard 10″ × 2.5″ drop-in cartridge is designed for compatible whole-house, under-sink and reverse-osmosis prefilter housings. It is commonly used as a final carbon stage after sediment or GAC filtration.

What it does

Provides final carbon polishing in compatible filtration systems

The compressed carbon media increases contact time compared with loose granular carbon and helps improve chlorine-related taste and odor.

Primary purpose

Chlorine, Taste and Odor

Helps reduce chlorine, unpleasant taste, unpleasant odor and many common volatile organic compounds when used within its rated operating conditions.

Typical placement

Final Carbon Stage

Commonly installed after a sediment or GAC cartridge as the final prefilter in under-sink RO systems or as a polishing stage in compatible whole-house systems.

Key benefits

Standard sizing, practical flow and straightforward replacement

CTO

Carbon-block polishing
Compressed carbon media supports chlorine-related taste and odor reduction.

10

Standard slim size
Fits compatible housings designed for standard 10″ × 2.5″ drop-in cartridges.

5G

Listed flow up to 5 GPM
Suitable for compatible under-sink and selected whole-house polishing applications.

RO

RO prefilter compatible
May be used as the third prefilter stage in compatible under-sink reverse-osmosis systems.

WH

Whole-house compatible
May be used as a final carbon stage in compatible whole-house systems using slim housings.

DI

Drop-in installation
Replaces directly inside compatible standard slim filter housings.

Reduction guide

What this cartridge helps reduce

Actual reduction and service life depend on source-water chemistry, chlorine level, pressure, flow rate and water use.

Helps reduce

Chlorine
Unpleasant taste
Unpleasant odor
Many common VOCs
Fine suspended particles

Performance varies by water quality, contact time, cartridge condition and installation.

Not designed to remove without specialty treatment

Hardness minerals
Dissolved iron
Fluoride
Chloramine
Bacteria or unsafe water
Dissolved salts / TDS

Chloramine generally requires catalytic carbon. Hardness usually requires a softener, and microbiological concerns require appropriate disinfection.

Installation and maintenance

  • Shut off the water supply and relieve housing pressure before opening
  • Install only in a compatible 10″ × 2.5″ slim housing
  • Place after sediment filtration whenever possible to help protect the carbon block
  • Inspect, clean and lubricate the housing O-ring as required
  • Pressurize slowly and inspect the housing for leaks
  • Flush until carbon fines are cleared before normal use

Good to know

!
Confirm cartridge size
This filter fits standard 10″ × 2.5″ slim housings and does not fit 10″ × 4.5″ Big Blue housings.

!
This is a standard CTO cartridge
It is not the premium activated coconut-shell carbon block used in MyAquaFilter premium replacement sets.

!
Use sediment filtration first
Installing sediment filtration upstream can help extend carbon-block life and reduce premature clogging.

!
Check whether your city uses chloramine
This standard CTO filter is intended primarily for chlorine. Chloramine generally requires catalytic carbon.

!
Capacity is not a fixed guarantee
High chlorine levels, high flow, heavy use or poor prefiltration may shorten cartridge life.

!
Flush before normal use
Initial dark water may be caused by harmless carbon fines. Flush until the water runs clear.

This product includes one replacement cartridge only. Filter housing, wrench, mounting bracket, plumbing fittings and additional filters are not included. It is not intended to make microbiologically unsafe or unknown-quality water safe to drink.

1 review for CTO Carbon Block Filter Cartridge for Chlorine, Taste & Odor – 10″ × 2.5″ (SKU# CTO-10)

  1. 5 out of 5

    Michael Jo

I’ve been using this carbon block filter as the third stage in my undersink RO system, and it works perfectly. Noticeable improvement in taste, and it completely removes the chlorine smell. Installation was easy and it fits standard 10” housings. Highly recommend!
