O Waste Water Flow Restrictor — 1/4″ Inline, 450 / 500 / 550 / 650 mL for 50–200 GPD Membranes — SKU REST-450ML

Price range: $4.95 through $5.99

Description

RO drain-flow control

Match the waste-water flow restrictor to your reverse-osmosis membrane

This inline RO flow restrictor installs on the membrane waste/drain line and helps maintain the operating pressure and drain flow needed for proper reverse-osmosis performance. Choose the restrictor rating that matches your membrane and system configuration.

Purpose

Controls waste-water flow so the membrane can operate correctly

An RO membrane needs a controlled drain flow to create the pressure differential required for separation. The flow restrictor limits water leaving through the waste line so the system can maintain a practical balance between purified-water production and drain flow.

PSI

Supports Membrane Pressure
Helps maintain the pressure conditions required for normal RO membrane operation.

RO

Supports RO Performance
Correct drain restriction helps the membrane operate closer to its intended system configuration.

DRAIN

Controls Waste Flow
Regulates water leaving through the RO membrane drain line.

1/4

1/4″ OD Tubing
Inline design for standard 1/4″ OD tubing used by many residential RO systems.

4

Four Ratings
Choose 450, 500, 550, or 650 mL according to the membrane and system setup.

QC

Inline Installation
Compact component installs directly in the compatible waste-water tubing path.

Choose the correct size

Membrane GPD matching guide

The table below follows the current MyWaterClub matching guide for this product. Use it as a starting point and verify the original restrictor rating whenever possible, because system pressure, membrane type, temperature, and manufacturer design can affect the correct selection.

450 mL Suggested starting range: 50–75 GPD membranes
500 mL Suggested starting range: 75–100 GPD membranes
550 mL Suggested starting range: 100–150 GPD membranes
650 mL Suggested starting range: 150–200 GPD membranes

Best way to choose

  • Check the rating printed on your existing restrictor
  • Confirm the GPD rating of the installed RO membrane
  • Use the same restrictor rating when replacing like-for-like whenever possible
  • Verify system-specific requirements before changing membrane capacity

Why matching matters

The restrictor and membrane work as a system

Too little restriction

Excessive Drain Flow

If drain flow is too high for the membrane and operating conditions, the system may not maintain the pressure needed for efficient purified-water production.

Too much restriction

Insufficient Drain Flow

If drain flow is restricted too heavily, the membrane may not receive the flushing flow intended by the system design. Correct matching helps maintain balanced operation.

Do not choose a restrictor only because it physically fits the tubing. The restrictor rating should be matched to the RO membrane and system configuration.
Compatibility

For compatible countertop and under-sink RO systems with a drain line

Countertop ROCompatible with many countertop reverse-osmosis systems using 1/4″ OD waste tubing.

Under-Sink ROSuitable for many standard residential under-sink systems with an external drain-line restrictor.

50–200 GPD membranesFour current restrictor choices cover common residential membrane capacities.

!
Not universal to every RO designSome systems use capillary, internal, combined check-valve/restrictor, or manufacturer-specific drain-control designs.

Installation

Install on the RO membrane waste line — not the purified-water line

1

Shut Off the Feed Water

Turn off the RO water supply and release system pressure before disconnecting tubing.

2

Identify the Drain Line

Locate the waste-water outlet from the RO membrane housing. Do not install the restrictor on the purified-water outlet.

3

Observe Flow Direction

Install the restrictor in the direction marked on the body and make sure the 1/4″ OD tubing is fully seated.

4

Check Operation

After restoring water pressure, inspect the connections for leaks and confirm that the RO system has both product-water and drain-water flow.

What’s included

One flow restrictor in the selected rating

For 1/4″ OD Waste Tubing
Designed for compatible RO drain-line installations.

Good to know

Check the existing restrictor before changing sizes

!
Match the membraneThe restrictor should be selected together with the membrane GPD rating and system requirements.

!
Install on the drain line onlyThis component controls waste-water flow and does not belong on the purified-water line.

!
System conditions matterFeed-water pressure, temperature, membrane type, and system design can change the preferred drain-flow setting.

!
Replace if restricted or damagedA clogged, damaged, or incorrect restrictor can change RO production and waste-water behavior.

The GPD-to-restrictor table is a general selection guide, not a universal specification for every RO system. When replacing an existing part, matching the original restrictor rating is preferred unless the membrane or system configuration is also being changed.
Not sure which restrictor you need?
Send the membrane GPD rating, RO system model, source-water pressure if known, and a photo or rating from the existing flow restrictor.
